Explore Song Fa Kway Chap’s new outlet at Food Opera @ ION Orchard! The outlet marks Singapore’s first quick service concept that focuses on doling out traditional Teochew-style kway chap.
Song Fa Kway Chap was born out of a desire to share a common love for the homespun dish, as well as the treasured recipes of Madam Tan Bee Hoon, wife of Song Fa Bak Kut Teh’s founder Yeo Eng Song. While ubiquitous, kway chap is commonly found in hawker centres or coffee shops — the new outlet aims to bridge this gap by bringing the dish to a luxury shopping mall, allowing both locals and tourists convenient access to savour it.
The menu will feature a variety of braised and communal-style claypot dishes. For the Peppery Kway Chap Deluxe Set, the chef has swapped the usual soup broth for a special peppery rendition that is inspired by the bak kut teh served at its sister company and Bib Gourmand recipient Song Fa Bak Ku Teh. Bound to evoke nostalgia are authentic Teochew-style mainstays such as Claypot Spicy Chicken and Claypot Spinach with Salted and Century Egg.
There will also be new dishes exclusive to the ION Orchard outlet, including Fried Garlic Pork Belly and Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish. Truly, Song Fa Kway Chap is where one can relish the comforting taste of mom’s cooking.
The indulgence is not just limited to the food. Get to savour Hot and Cold Kings Garden Tea, which are a staple at Song Fa Bak Ku Teh — aromatic and light on the palate, these brews pair remarkably well with the claypot dishes.
