Singapore Stories at National Gallery

Singapore Stories — Opening to the public on 18 July 2025, this expanded presentation builds on the exhibition’s first chapter (which opened in December 2024) and continues the story of Singapore art into the post-independence years. It’s a timely and meaningful moment, as we celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday this.

A new space featuring two cutting-edge commissions by Amanda Heng. “Amanda Heng, Let’s Chat Further and Retired Singirl” builds on Heng’s earlier works and is powered by generative technologies and holographic telecommunication.

Dalam Singapore – A new annexe for curatorial exploration, opening with Tchang Ju Chi: Tireless Camel, the first solo show in over 50 years of this pioneering artist. Transformed to occupy the full second.

Explore over 400 artworks and artefacts – from iconic masterpieces to rarely seen treasures from the National Collection – that reflect the rich and diverse lives, practices, and perspectives of artists who have made, taught, shared, and lived art in Singapore. Transformed to occupy the full second floor of the Gallery’s City Hall Wing.
