Tempura Makino: Savour the Season with Crisp Unagi & Citrus Flavours

Summer in Japan is when temperatures soar over 30°C and humidity is at its highest, coinciding with energetic festivals and the rainy season – pretty much Singapore’s weather situation all year round. Tempura Makino’s seasonal summer menu is here to keep our stamina up and to help us cool down, available from 17 June.

Mikan Mochi with Yuzu Sherbet – $7.50 ($6, with any order of Unagi Tempura Hitsumabushi) Once again, the prized delicacy of unagi takes centrestage, with three iterations on Tempura Makino’s seasonal summer menu. Shatteringly crisp with a soft and fluffy interior, these are made to order in Tempura Makino’s signature Tsudoage style, with imported Japanese flour, Okinawa eggs, dashi, and dipping sauces to maintain authenticity.

Cool down also with citrusy, fruity and tangy flavours, as Japanese yuzu, plum and Mandarin orange take the spotlight, as much-needed accompaniments, desserts and drinks to complement the delicious and nutritious unagi creations. Not only are they refreshing on the palate, their high vitamin C content is also beneficial, helping to fight fatigue and support the immune system during the hot, humid summer.
